The Story of Reflora Initiative

Reflora initiative is a Carbon-Tech venture, a brainchild of professionals who got together to create a business aligned with a sense of purpose. In April 2020, we set offices in Lisbon, Portugal.

As millennials working through the top rungs of varied industries across the globe (Brazil, Portugal, Colombia, France, India) such as FMCG, Finance, Legal, Media, Technology, Engineering; we came to one conclusion: the future of all business is sustainability.

The need for change is evident through the Paris Agreement, where it was agreed for countries to reduce their carbon emissions (55% by 2030). It is essential to add that 72% millennials and generations after are focused on buying products/services that support the improvement of our green infrastructure. Other key motivations are the rise of ESG investing and incentives from financial markets for companies with carbon neutrality.

While governments and companies join the race to grow sustainably, the rate of our depleting resources, points towards one fact: we must act now.

So what about now?

When businesses emit carbon into the atmosphere, it is imperative that they also support instruments that re-absorb carbon. Carbon Credits are a form of compensation of excess carbon that is emitted by functions of an organization.

At Reflora, we are constantly striving to add an intrinsic value to the idea of compensation.

After investigating different carbon offset projects, we chose forests. Forests support transformation that we need in the long term for the decarbonisation of our economy.

Working with forests allows Reflora, and in turn businesses, to create a deeper impact that goes beyond compliance or customer satisfaction.

We carefully curate carbon credits that offer not just the sequestration, but also mitigation of GHG impact, ecological restoration, direct employment, avoided displacement of indigenous populations, basic and technical education among other local community building activities.

We take our forests and its people very seriously.

Each carbon credit from Reflora is assured to be technology forward, transparent, safe and through duly certified high standards.

We were born carbon positive and commit to be so through our growth.

Our ultimate commitment, however, as passport holders of this planet, is to make sustainable businesses possible.
